THE CLEAN AIR CARD

About the Program

Idling Gets You Nowhere

Every minute of idling adds pollution to the air we all breathe. When a vehicle is left running, it releases volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) – the ingredients that form ground-level ozone, or smog. Ozone builds up most on hot, sunny days, and Clark County has plenty of both.

Simply turning off your engine stops these emissions right at the source. That means less pollution in the very places people gather -drive-thrus, school pickup areas, and parking lots – keeping the air cleaner for everyone, especially children and older adults who are more sensitive to ozone.

Our new program makes that choice even easier. We’re distributing 10,000 reward cards, redeemable at 12 participating businesses across [ ] locations countywide, to thank residents for choosing to park and walk in instead of idling. A small habit can make a big difference.
